Per recent claims from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a commutation application for review by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a whistleblower provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in the Lone Star State.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” Maxwell with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the clemency request remain unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a designated private space for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to bring computers, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her associates to contact and how staff would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her private aide.

The statement states that those writing to her would send files directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and return them to the warden to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that she told friends and family in electronic messages that she was more content at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, she was moved from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as the President's private attorney.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in that year while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had sent a letter to Trump, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and urged the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant criminal,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with room service, with puppies to play with, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

Raskin requested that the official appear for a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to the President.

He inquired whether Trump had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to arrange her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, family or agents have made any promises to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court rejected an appeal from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
